Word of Mouth

"Shmuel Gonzales is a first class guide to a Los Angeles that may be in plain sight, but whose dramatic story is often hidden. I know LA and its history pretty well , yet the "Barrio Boychik" showed and told me things that I never knew. He researches his topics well and delivers the tour with personality and verve! I would take any tour he offers!"

Mark Strunin,

Past President, Temple Beth Israel of Highland Park and Eagle Rock; and former member Board of Governors, Jewish Federation of the San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys

"Sundays tour was fabulous……you are a scholar and a mensch!  My teenagers got so much out of it and you totally made my in-laws trip from Boston. Thank you so much!!"

"Your tours are the best!"

Nick Delgado

East Los Angeles | California

"A hidden gem among LA's historical tours! What really makes Shmuel's tours shine is how deep his knowledge goes below the surface. Asking a few pointed questions quickly reveals that he knows a lot more detail than he has time to put in the tour."

Community

Community Projects and Organizations to Support

CASA 0101 was founded by Josefina Lopez, author of Real Women Have Curves, in 2000 to fulfill her vision of bringing art and live theater programs to the community she grew up in, Boyle Heights.

From its humble beginnings operating out of a converted store front, CASA 0101 has established itself as a leading arts venue for Los Angeles’ Eastside, presenting theatrical productions, film festivals, and other special events year round. CASA 0101 also offers year-round, free arts education classes for youth, and low-cost classes for adults.
